Retrofication/Reconstruction of Damaged Schools
Since most of the schools were damaged after the earthquake,
teachers were forced to continue teaching in the open sky. Students
had to face the odds of weather and also found it difficult to
concentrate as they were distracted by the continuous noise caused
by people and vehicles. There were very few interim schools in the
area.
Considering the problems of the students and teachers CEE Himalaya
is constructing earthquake resistant schools in Uri Sub-division as
‘Anandshala’ Model schools.
‘Anandshala’ literally means ‘school of joy’
where the children to be provided with a congenial environment for
their overall development.

The main objective of
Anandshala is to create a model and methodology for education in
partnership with village community, state
government, local institution, individuals, teachers and children.
Anandshala also aims at improving the infrastructure of the existing
school and further improve quality of teaching – learning process.
