This useful publication in Hindi enlists above 60 plants from Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve used as medicines, condiments, dyes, lesser-known fruits and crops or having some cultural importance. Some of these are now endangered or threatened. The book also provides information on the indigenous knowledge about the NTFPs, their uses and conservation practices including the cultivation techniques. Written in a very simple language, this book is presented in a dialogue form for the women. It also documents many Folk songs narrating the importance of plant genetic resources.

This brochure in Hindi is usefulfor the local groups involved in promoting alternative media for conservation of nature. The brochure highlights the importance of genetic resources and the need for their conservation. It provides tips to develop messages for conservation of plants and animals for performances by the local groups performing alternative media.
